About

Background

Many people gather outside abortion clinics to offer support to women who are uncertain in their choice. These women deserve all the help they can get from those willing to offer it. There have been heartbreaking stories of women who longed for that support when these sidewalk counsellors have been absent, and regret their decision to end their pregnancy.

The Bill

Penny Sharpe and Trevor Kahn’s Bill would stop sidewalk counsellors from offering support and alternatives to women within 150 metres of an abortion clinic. It would result in being sent to prison for up to 1 year, or a $11,000 fine. The Bill seeks to restrict the freedoms of sidewalk counsellors in order to secure “safe access zones.”

We Support Women

We are here to support women and to offer options to them when they feel like they have no other choice. This Bill seeks to criminalize those who want to help women in their time of need. It’s not a crime to offer support, and it’s not a crime to help women. That’s why we say “NO” to the exclusion zones.
